When to change car seats?

When should I transition my baby from her portable car seat to the stationary car seat (I hope that makes sense. I’m not sure of the names)? Do I need to leave her in the portable car seat as long as possible/until she outgrows it? Pictures below for examples. Thank you!

There's height and weight limitations for every seat. When baby outgrows those limitations it's time to switch. I think my daughter was 24lbs when her pediatrician told us to switch her out of the infant seat.

I think some convertible ones work for infants too. I used the infant car seat until my daughter outgrew it (but really she got too heavy to carry in it anyways, so since you have both, that might be the more powerful factor)

Whenever you want, typically. Just depends on the specs of the carseats. The convertible carseats can almost always be used from birth. We didn’t even buy a portable infant carseat with our first.

I switched my son when he was too heavy to carry in the car seat - around 10ish months.

I switched mine to a convertible seat when she was too heavy for me to carry in the infant seat, which was well before the limits of the car seat.

My baby moved to a joie 360 a few months ago. She was 2 heavy for the removable seat

We only transitioned bc he was too heavy to tote around in the carrier style and was able to sit up so in the stroller and such he didn’t need the carrier to lay back.
