My Strange Period

Almost every time I get my period in the past year and a half, it lasts for 2-3 weeks and then doesn't come back for another 2 months. I'm only 15 so I'm not sure if that's normal but I first got my period when I was 11 and my mother said it should be normal by now. Should I go see my doctor or just go with it?
