Caught COVID at the hospital!
I’m so upset… I’ve been so incredibly careful since New Years, haven’t left the house at all besides going to my OB appointments. We even homeschool our son and my husband hasn’t left or been in direct contact with anyone in the entire month. I’m currently 37 weeks and 5 days. My c section is currently scheduled for the 24th.
Last Wednesday I went to my routine 8:30 am OB appointment and ended up having to be monitored in the hospital until 4 pm that day due to consistent contractions (Braxton hicks) as well as baby’s heart rate was irregular on the Doppler so they wanted to be careful. Finally got out and had a Fetal Medicine Ultrasound on Friday to double check her heart which ended up looking beautiful.
Fast forward to Monday, I started having to clear my throat and was sure it was just bad allergies. Then Tuesday happened… fever, headache, chills, and body aches. Called the nurse and had to immediately go get tested for COVID, strep and flu. Came back COVID positive that day. So here’s why I’m really angry…
Because my symptoms started on Monday, the hospital has a 14 day quarantine period from the start date, meaning that if I have baby girl early, I won’t be able to be with her after the birth! 14 days lands right on my scheduled c section date on the 24th. We are trying to see if we can move the date by one BUT baby girl is already measuring over 7lbs 8oz as of Friday. My doctor said last week that she said she would be surprised if I make it to c section date.
Anyways, I had that one bad day of symptoms, and now today I only have a little bit of body aches which Tylenol takes care of. This is so stupid. All that work to be overly cautious, avoiding family and everyone! Then I catch it from the hospital!
If you got this far, I’d be surprised, I just needed to type this out into the void. Moral of the story, apparently you can’t be too careful. It doesn’t matter with this dumb, cold-like, crap called “COVID”… thank you for reading my rant.
