How was your iud removal?

My iud strings are lost. Anyone have theirs removed after the strings were lost? What was it like? Was there recovery? How fertile were you after?

Answer

Not going to lie. It wasn’t pleasant. My strings were cut too short so they sat inside my cervical canal. She tried dilating my cervix and still couldn’t see them. Dilating doesn’t feel great either because it makes you cramp. Then she said she was going to have to go in blind with the forceps. Lots of cramping felt like contractions. It only really lasted a minute and it was over. After it was out I bled for a little bit but that was it. No recovery needed and you are fertile right away.
