Has anyone’s partner said they’re not ready for kids or undecided when you first met but changed their mind?

I didn't want to be a mother. I was afraid of passing on my genetic condition, as well as scared I would be just like my mom that I absolutely didn't want kids. My partner understood, and was very gentle and patient when I started having doubts about my decision. I went from "no kids ever" to "what'll we do if I get pregnant?" to "if it happens we'll make it work" to "I think I'd like a family with you". Now I'm at that point of "can we start trying to conceive in the next couple years?"
He has never pushed the issue, and while he's happy I changed my mind he didn't try to influence my decision. He only comforted me when I shared that I was afraid, and promised no matter what happens we'll face it together.

Yup. I wanted at least one. He said “maybe one”. When we got married he changed it to none. After 3 years of marriage he told me he was ready to start trying if I was. He told me the reason he said no was because he was scared I’d leave him and our child someday just like his mom did to him, his brother & dad. He said being married to me, he could see I would never do that and he just needed to come to terms with that. 
Took 4 years and IVF but we thankfully have a wild 15 month old boy! We have another embryo being preserved but we are still debating if we want a second. Plan was always for 1 but knowing there is another potential life we created being stored, it makes that choice more complicated.
