How long did it take for you to be able to breastfeed after a c section?

Hey ladies so I am scheduled for a c-section on the 27th with my first child and I would really really love to be able to breastfeed my child but now I’m wondering if having a c-section will have any effect. Please can y’all share your breastfeeding stories after a c-section

I had a c-section almost 3 weeks ago for my first/only baby. I didn’t have colostrum come in until a week after having him and I was pumping every 2-3 hours, drinking lots of water, eating lactation foods, etc and nothing was helping. Then my milk slowly came in and it wasn’t/still isn’t enough to feed him. I’m only able to get maybe 40ml per DAY - total and he eats 100ml per feed every 3-4 hours. I’m having to supplement with formula. This was/is just my personal experience. Hopefully you have better luck!

Able? Around 6 hours maybe, I was taken to intensive care after and they didn't allow my husband with a baby there.
But my milk kicked in I think 3/4 days later.

My milk came in right away. My daughter was in the nicu so I alternated breastfeeding and bottle but was pumping a large amount by the next morning.

I breastfed while being sewn up the second time. Still going strong at 11 weeks. I breastfed my son in recovery and made it ten months before he weaned himself. I did have to supplement with my son. But my daughter hasn’t even had a bottle.

The nurses put my baby on my boob as soon as we got back to my room. My milk didn’t come in for 3-4 days. I had colostrum until then.

Immediately after my c-section in the recovery room; however, the lactation nurse was super surprised!

Literally no effect on me. Two planned c sections and I was able to breastfeed immediately. My milk came in on day 2 for both.

Everyone is different.
Start collecting colostrum if your doctor/midwife is okay with it, it will really help.

my first section was emergency, and tons of issues which effected my milk production. my second i had 0 issues, but quit due to mastitis. the whole bfeeding thing traumatized me
