It’s a nice way to track what you need & what you have purchased if you don’t plan on sending it out to anyone. Some sites also give you a discount eventually for items on your registry after a certain amount of time.

I did mainly for myself and then my SIL threw me a “sprinkle” so people were able to get on there and see what type of diapers / wipes I preferred.

Sure. That way if anyone asks (I'd not send it out) you have a list ready. It might also be nice for you to take a quick inventory.
