How often do you call your doctor?

I read somewhere that someone’s doctor ‘fired’ them for being a difficult patient… I don’t want to bug my doctor but I’ve called twice asking for my NIPT results, I’m dying to know what the results are. Just wondering how often you guys call?

I called once a day for blood test results one pregnancy. Other than that, I never called. Every question I ever had has already been asked somewhere online and was easily found on google. Your doctor has other patients besides you who have much more pressing issues that need prioritized before calling you back with results of an optional test. If you’re calling multiple times for that, it’s too much in my opinion.

I doubt they were “fired” as patients for asking too many questions or calling too often. 
Usually patients are “fired” for being combative, uncooperative, unreasonable, and entitled.

The first time I had what I now know was braxton hicks, I felt so bad calling my dr bc it was late at night and didnt want to disturb him. So I called the nurse line from our insurance. At my next appointment,  I was recapping how everything felt to my dr, and he told me pretty sternly that I should have called him instead 😂 that was very reassuring to hear 😊

I definitely call if I'm experiencing something concerning (can't keep food down, too high/low blood pressure, abdominal pain, etc) or think I might be in labor. If it's a question that can wait, I write them all down so I can ask during my next appointment.

I wouldn’t call for results until the estimated wait time had passed. For example if they said it could take up to 10 days, then I’d call on day 11.

I usually don't 🤷‍♀️ But I have nothing to complain about and also we can get any test results online. With a little bit of Google I am able to read them myself.

I’ve messaged her once this pregnancy through our healthcare app, and her nurse responded to the message. 🤷‍♀️ If I have a question I call the nurse line but I haven’t done that yet this pregnancy.

I called three times in one day due to my midwife missing a phone appointment with me and never calling me back with my urine results (I thought I had a bladder infection and was in a significant amount of pain/discomfort). I still never got ahold of my midwife and it’s been 4 days so I’ll likely be “firing” her and finding a new one. Thankfully I was able to get ahold of a nurse who mentioned everything came back clear but scheduled me to come in to see the OB. I think doctors need to be more conscious of their patients especially when it comes to significant things.
