Will it be safe to grow a garden this year?
So I love gardening and use to grow all kinds of vegetables every year. I really only have one area in my yard where I can have a garden. So 4 years ago my husband decided to rescue a cat from the shelter this cat is a indoor / outdoor cat. Well this cat turned my garden into a litter box and some how attracted all the stray cats in the neighborhood to use my garden as a litter box as well. It was real bad and I obviously couldn’t grow anything there because of the danger of cat urine and feces. So for about 4 years this area has basically been one big cat litter box because I couldn’t keep all the cats away.
Now this year we put a fence around this area and dug all the soil out. But I’m still worried that the bacteria from all that urine and feces is still there? Could possibly of sank down in the ground and still be dangerous to grow food there. What do you think is it safe or will this area forever be dangerous to grow food? What if I don’t do a garden this year and let the area sit fenced in for one full year and use it next year to have a garden will it be safe then?
