Why get married?

Question

Why do people get married? Also, why are some people in such a rush to get married? Is there much of a difference between being in a relationship and being married? What are your thoughts? I need some genuine answers please. Thank you in advance.

I got married because I wanted to celebrate love.
My husband i think primarily chose it to make me happy as I wanted it and it's practical especially when you have a child together.
I grew up in a dysfunctional home. I've always wanted all the "normal" things people have. Being married and celebrating that was one of those things.

That answer is completely different for every individual. Some people never end up getting married, others rush into it too fast, or have amazing strong marriages -I think it really will depend on the person

Everyone has a different opinion on marriage and different values. I personally, not that I judge anyone this is my choice and belief, think marriage is the ultimate way to show someone you love them. I also don’t think you should have children unless you are married so when we wanted to make that step, it was a factor in choosing to get married. I also don’t believe in just dating, I date for marriage. I wouldn’t live with someone unless we were married. I didn’t have sex before marriage.

For me it was so I could live with and spend the rest of my life with the man I love. I refused to live with or build a home and family with a man that wasn't committed for the long haul. Marriage is a commitment/ promise to stay together forever with that person. I wanted that. I was not willing to give years of my life to a relationship without a commitment from us both.

I chose to wait 6 years before marrying my husband. He was my childhood best friend/ next door neighbor so I knew him well but not in the aspect of a relationship. I believe it’s vital to know how your partner lives, respects people, their morals etc. 
I have many many friends who married within 1-2 years and then are absolutely miserable with 3-4 kids, a cheating spouse and an unhelpful husband. It doesn’t surprise me bc how the actual hell can u marry someone after only a couple yrs?? U don’t truly know that person yet u only know what they wanna show you and 1-2 is not enough. They’re simply in love with the idea rather than the reality of marriage of kids.

Marriage to me was like the blank page of a new chapter in my book of life.  We lived together for 5 years before we got married, and things didn’t change much, but I felt it was official now.  I was a MRS.  It was the box I had always wanted to tick.  Marriage is the celebration of 2 people coming together and creating a new and beautiful life.. a new chapter.  Not saying that you can’t do that with out getting married, but for me, that was the journey I wanted / yearned to take.  I came from loving parents, and my husband too.. so we had great examples to mirror that..

Women imparticularly rush to get married partially because societal pressures but also to have a man profess their commitment and love for them.
    And marriage and being in a relationship legally are very very different. The benefits and consequences is what makes marriage or being in a relationship different. Marriage is what each person believes it to be. Thats why some people who honor marriage conduct their marriage in a way that makes their partner feel loved and valued and others not so much. Some people who are married still conduct their lives like theyre single because their frame of mind about marriage is its not a big deal.

We did it because it was fun and we got to celebrate our love! I didn’t expect anything to change because everything was already so amazing I couldn’t have pictured it being better but it really did get even better in a way I don’t have words for. And I think I’ve found so much peace and pride in myself, I’m much more calm in my heart.. and I was already a joyful person! But I think it’s pretty special to be married to your best friend and I love it 😊

Everyone is different, some people get married quickly for immigration benefits, some people get married quickly because their hormones and everything are at a high, and they really aren’t thinking clearly, because it takes a good year to get to know someone and even then they can surprise you. Everyone puts on their best face in the beginning, nobody says hi these are all my negative traits, this is what I plan to do to you, they love bomb you, and so many other things meanwhile they are a narcissist he was abusive down deep. Some people look at marriage that it’s just a piece of paper, some people do it because they feel they owe it to the person because they’ve been with them for so long, some people never marry the person and stay together for many years like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, some people do it for the sake of the kids, they do it before they have the baby just saw that they are married, some people I want to share their life with the other person, some people do it for money, some people go into it intentionally hoping to get pregnant so they have them for 18 years with child support, and purposely get pregnant, some people want someone to take care of them financially etc., there are so many reasons why people want to get married and why people don’t want to get married, some people are jilted from their own parents, or being around nothing but divorced people, some people have trauma and don’t even want to be in a relationship and would rather play the field and use women or use men, some people don’t even wanna be in a relationship, they would just rather have friends with benefits or hook ups, Every person and every situation is different. Sometimes you get tired of the bullshit, and it’s just not for you and your priorities have changed. I think growing up, especially if you come from a happy home we’re both parents are married, do you want the same thing that your parents had, stability, the happy home, the 2.3 children, white picket fence￼￼￼ Home with the dog, we grow up seeing it on TV, especially in the olden days, now it’s nothing but crap, and reality TV which is the farthest thing from reality. Leave it to Beaver, the Waltons, the Brady Bunch, whatever it may be. Happy spouse happy house, that or you want what you didn’t have, sometimes you come from a broken home or grow up in the system or whatever it may be and all you’ve ever wanted was stability. Same thing when you grow up in a abusive household, you want to be what your parents weren’t to you to your own child, or the cycle repeats itself and you abuse your children to, it’s your choices and your decisions. It’s a decision for everybody, if they want to or not, if they want to have kids or not, if a want to be single or not. I mean people want to fall in love and get married and have a whole package deal, Some people just don’t want to die alone, sometimes you don’t wanna spend the rest your life with somebody sometimes doesn’t work out. Sometimes you stay together for the sake of the kids, meanwhile you’re not really happy, or sometimes it does work out.￼￼
