facebook scammers

my dad got this message on facebook about government sending out checks and ofc i looked into it and it was a scam, told him dont do anything else since he already sent this fb messenger account his drivers license. what can they do with this ? should he report it or is there nothing he can do until they actually try and steal his identity. i told him to keep a close look on his capital one because they notify any fraud of weird stuff. but i am worried for him that has his address on it. i just told him block the dude and watch your accounts. he didn’t send any other info.
