My doctor argued with me about my skin condition

I’ve had eczema my whole life, literally since I was a baby. It gets really bad in the winter months and is pretty painful. It’s a common condition so I’ve never had a problem getting any sort of steroid shot or cream for it.

Today I went to my new doctor for this first time and my main reason was to get a steroid cream. It’s getting really bad and has been painful af. My new doctor came in and we started talking about it. Her first statement after I showed her the main spot was “that’s not eczema” I literally showed her every spot on my body and she continued to say it was just dry skin. That’s what eczema is. We continued to go back and forth like children for 5 minutes about it. She finally says “I don’t think that’s what it is but if you really want me to write a prescription I will”

I was literally shocked. I’ve had eczema my whole life. I know what it is and I know when it flares up. She really argued with me I told me straight up I was wrong and she would know since she’s a doctor. I’ve never in my whole life had a doctor look at the basic textbook example of eczema that I have and say that’s not what it is. I called my husband after I left and just laughed about it
