Baby girl is finally here! 2/20

Kimberly

What a journey it was to get this precious baby girl out of the womb and into the world. I figured it would be nice to share a very raw yet positive story in our mommy community.

So I went into L&D for a scheduled induction on Friday at 8pm due to gestational hypertension. I was having contractions but they were super mild, so I figured ‘wow this should be simple’. Boy was I wrong!

Fast forward to Sunday morning (mind you little to no progress was made all day Saturday- the best thing that happened was having my water broken by dr), I wake up being 7cm dilated and was told I could start pushing around 2 hours later if I got to 10cm and I did! So I start pushing around roughly 10am and assumed I’d have the baby out by noon. NOPE.

I ended up pushing for 4 hours and only got the baby to move slightly lower. Her head ended up being in a transverse position so she was basically impossible to push out due to being behind my pubic bone (didn’t find this out until after she was born 🥴). My doctor and I agreed pushing was over and it was time for a C-section. Then at 2:45pm, this little beautify entered the world.

Lyla Ann- 7 lbs, 8 oz, 22 inches 💕

The day ended up being one of the most challenging of my life but my husband was my rock, holding my hand and assisting me while pushing which was what I needed. The nurses were also patient and wonderful, as was my doctor. This made me feel extremely grateful for being a patient of my current OBGYN practice.

So despite all of the chaos, nothing can compare to hearing your baby cry for the first time and see something so beautiful that you created and carried inside of you for 9 months. The skin to skin moment is so touching and I will never forget it as long as I live. It is all so truly life changing. It was worth every moment of pain and stress endured.

To all the expecting mamas in February and beyond- you got this! ☺️💗
