Thanks I understand that part but now what's also confusing me is in Jan I was 5 days late and eventually when I did get my period it was only 3 days and very light so does that count or would I count December as being my last

It goes by your first day of last period,not by hcg :)

You go by your last period until you can get an ultrasound to see how far along you are.
