Half siblings
Anyone with a parent that hasn't been present in their lives, do you ever wonder if you have a half sibling anywhere?
My mom is 39 years old and recently found out she has 2 sisters. Between the 3 of them, my mom was the only one who really knew their dad, other two just knew him as "the random man who brang us a pack of sweets on Christmas" when they were kids.
When my mom's dad died, she went to our country to help with the funeral, noone there wanted to give him one, but one of her sisters came and that's how they found eachother, her sisters mom finally told her when he died that he was her dad. My mom and that sister are quite close now, we all met her and her family on a trip to our country. They're 1year apart in age and in the next town over.
Now the second sister, my mom's actually knew her since she was little, they grew up together in a boarding school, they were best friends, but her friend didn't know her dad, knew his name but only seen him two or three times in her life, for some reason in all these years they never spoke of it, until last month, my mom took a holiday to see her, we live in the same country but quite far, they were drinking together and the topic of fathers came up, her friend told her her dad's name, and it's the same name as my mom's dad, same description of him and everything, they're the same age! So at first they thought it was a coincidence but it's such an uncommon name in the country, it's a proper Russian name and even there isn't not as common, and their home towns are just an hour apart. Also her stories of seeing him is the same as her sisters, just a man who came with sweets 🤷🏼♀️ my mom still to this day doesn't know what happened between her mom and dad, her mom refuses to speak about him, and my mom's never had a good relationship with him to actually have a conversation.
All 3 of them believe they really are sisters, they're planning to do a dna together.
Now that gets me thinking, they're all from a very small country, only now finding out they have sisters, my dad's been physically in and out of my life, hardly see him, but I have him on social media, his never had a serious relationship since my mom, I'm starting to wonder WHAT IF I have a sibling somewhere, honestly I don't really care but can't help but be curious. So weird.
