Cat litter box?

Is it actually serious to not scoop the litter box? This is my first pregnancy and I have my own place so I’m the only one there to do it majority of the time

Not really. It kind of depends but usually no. It is due to toxoplasmosis but if you just google that you'll find it's not very likely to get it under most circumstances. If your cat is an indoor/outdoor cat it's possible due to them eating raw things like mice/birds. If your cat is indoors only and you know there's no mice or such the likelihood is very slim. It also doesn't last forever so if your cat gets it then it doesn't have it forever. If you scoop the litter everyday it also lowers the chance as the bacteria can build up the longer it sits in the box. Personally I always suggest cleaning the box with gloves everyday and washing your hands throughly afterwards. You can also get toxoplasmosis from veggies if they aren't washed properly so make sure to clean them well before cooking

If you’ve had cats prior to being pregnant it is likely that you’ve already been exposed to toxoplasmosis, but I’d say to be safe just wear gloves when you change the litter.

It’s more a risk if they go outside. If they are indoor you are fine. Plus I scooped it both pregnancies and had healthy babies.

Ur fine as long as u just wash ur hands thoroughly after. I live alone (well, me and my daughter and I’m currently pregnant) and have 2 cats and I sort the litter as I did thru my first pregnancy but just keep up my hygiene standards as I would anyway.
