Do you think making a child or teen “eating soap” is harsh or not?

So when I was about 15 I got caught texting a boy who was like 17 and I didn’t tell my dad but everyone else knew. When he found out he got so mad that he made me not necessarily eat a bar of soap but made me sit with it in my mouth for like 30 minutes and when I took it out my tongue was super sensitive and hard to eat that night. I was bawling my eyes out. Although it didn’t stop me from doing things like that I just got better at hiding it.

Is eating soap a harsh punishment? Or no. In your opinion.
