Why does my boyfriend ask how much I spent on a tour for us?

We are going on a trip and I booked a nice cocktails tour for us and he kept asking how much I spent. I asked him why and he said he doesn’t want me spending too much money because I don’t make that much money vs him. Do you guys think he’s asking this because he wants to break up with me post our trip and doesn’t want to feel guilty?

He also said that he knows I don’t make a lot of money and that if I made 100K a year then he would be less worried. Should I take any offense to that?
