When should I start??

Yesterday I went to the doctors and got a prescription for the 21 day pill.  I came on my period today. When should I start taking the pill as I'm a little confused

Sorry but everyone here is wrong... Never start with the sugar pills you'll be doing your pack backwards.

If you start your active pills the same day your period starts you are protected immediately. So then it's just up to you what time of day you want to take them.

Your doctor didn't tell you or your prescription doesn't say? I've heard a lot of people say to start taking the sugar pills right when you start your period, but my doctor told me to start taking my regular pills on the Sunday after I started my period. So I started my period on a Saturday, and she told me to start taking my regular pills (not sugar) that Sunday, even though I'd be taking the regular pills as I was still bleeding. I would call your doctor just to be sure because I'm sure it's different for a lot of people!

Take the first white sugar tablet on the first day of your period and then continue taking one tablet a day.
