What dog breeds are easier to take care of?

I’m asking like less shedding etc. Easier to keep up with. Also a dog breed where they don’t grow to big. I really want a German shepherd but husband won’t approve lol. We have a toddler who really loves dogs and he’s super gentle with them. So I’m trying to convince my husband lol. Please name the dog breeds thanks!

I grew up with German shepherds so I’m aware they shed a lot. But my husband doesn’t want a dog that sheds a lot and is easy to keep up with.
