What a strange comment

So I live in a house share and my one guy house mate moved out on Friday. We've had a past of being sex buddies but we managed to stay friends but it's been toxic because he shows signs of having feelings for me but is resisting those feelings because I'm pretty sure someone has hurt him in the past. But anyway he is in deep denial of his feelings and everyone around us can see he has feelings for me. The other night my mom asked him if he wanted me to stay in contact with him once he moved out because the 2 weeks leading up to him moving out he has been making comments like he is the love of my life and he is my first true love, and I'm going to forget him when he moves out and that we can't be friends when I get a bf because apparently my bf won't allow it. He's answer to the question was if I get a bf then no he doesn't want me staying in contact with him but if we gonna be friends we can see each other from time to time. I honestly think he has commitment issues and serious insecurities and doesn't believe he is capable of loving someone. Any thoughts?
