I know she isn’t actually poor because she shops for clothes often, eats out, gets pedicures, etc but constantly tells me she has no money for diapers or food. She doesn’t work but her husband provides for the family and complains it’s not enough. I work and my husband works but barely make ends meet right now due to inflation and prices rising up in everything. I feel bad for her but I don’t know what to do when she keeps complaining about these things because it makes me uncomfortable. She’s not asking for anything but I feel like indirectly she wants my help. My husband doesn’t think it’s necessary to help her because we’ve helped in the past then soon enough she ‘expects’ more often. She’s pregnant again with her second baby and I am genuinely concerned for her kids well-being if she cannot afford diapers or food. I know she is getting WIC and food stamps but do they not always help? I never knew how any of that works. I am just not sure if I should take her serious or try to find ways to help her without hurting my own pockets.
