What would you do?

Question

My 6 year old is in this phase where she says rude stuff but she doesn't think she's being rude.
Example, last night we went out to eat with her aunt and she was asking her aunt what words she could spell. She had been asking her all day so her aunt was like not right now.
And our daughter goes "well, I guess you don't know any words."
Another example, if she's being loud and I ask her nicely to lower her voice she goes "well I guess you don't want me to have fun or play my game!"
Or with our friend she tried playing a game with him and he was playing "wrong" so she said "you don't know anything."
I have tried ignoring it and telling her in a nice voice or a stern voice to stop and why it's rude and she just keeps doing it!!! It's so embarrassing!!!

If you ignore the behaviour she will never learn that it's not right. You need to correct it. When she does that you need to say it's rude, when it is and you need to explain why it's rude.

It sounds like ignoring it is not very effective right now since she may not understand what she’s doing is wrong. Instead, it would be great to model things she could say instead and talk to her about her feelings and the situation more while it’s happening 😊

Well if you have already told her not to say something and she does it again she may need some punishment.    And you may have to bring it down to her level as well.  Sit down and discuss that somethings are rude and think of some comments that would be rude to a 6year old and ask her how she would feel if someone said that to her.  And explain that saying rude things is not kind and hurts peoples feelings

Definitely start speaking up. 
My son did this too around that age. He would always use the excuse “what? I am just kidding. I’m not serious” and it drove me up the wall. We had to constantly take pauses after he made comments like that and I would ask him to think how his friends felt when he would mock them. He may think it’s funny but his friends will take it personally even if they laugh. No one wants friends who constantly are “joking” about how dumb they are. People want friends who lift them up.  
It’s tough because it’s a habit for them. Keep speaking up and keep telling her how wrong it is. You’ve got this mama!!

Redirect her and give her ideas/options of what she should say instead. Kids don’t always mean what they say, let alone fully grasp what they are actually saying. Explain to her in a way she can understand and redirect her.

CORRECT her when she is wrong, explain to her how it is rude. 
If she still doesn’t understanding, give her some kind of punishment.

It's going to have to be a correctional punishment. The one thing I tell you from kids is when you get to their eye level an treat them like their actual adults when you are correcting them it makes them understand more and it scares them.  really need to sit her down  make her think about how rude she's been  that she's going to have to apologize..
