Threatened miscarriage

I'm 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I just found out I was pregnant a week ago and my first appt with my obgyn is at the end of the month. However, I just returned from the emergency room after noticing my spotting (started on Sunday 3/13 and today is 3/17) had become quite heavy in comparison to the previous days, and later found out that I have a threatened miscarriage (I hope I'm saying that correctly) because they couldn't find a heartbeat. Has anyone else had one of these? Does this mean my first baby is gone now :( ? Should I take some vitamins or something to maybe help the baby along? I don't want to give up on the baby if there's still even a small chance :(
