Did you bleed heavily after your C-section?

Question

I keep hearing from friends and family that I wont bleed as heavy as I would if I delivered vaginally. I'm just curious if I should expect a heavy period or not? I'm scheduled for my C-section in one week. First time mom.  
Any tips or advice?

I bled a ton after my csection. You bleed just as much because the bleeding is caused by the dinner plate sized wound left by your placenta. I bled for 6 weeks and was bleeding so heavy i would soak a overnight maxi pad and depends in 2 hours

I had heavy bleeding, much more than a period, for about a week. Then I had light bleeding pretty much right up until 6 weeks postpartum. I’ve never had a vaginal delivery, so I can’t compare directly to that.

I was so over prepared with the adult diapers and giant overnight pads. I bleed for 4 weeks but it was always light. Like probably less than a regular period even in the first week and very light the last week or so.

I bled for over 6 weeks, but it wasn't a lot. Just consistently enough to go through a few pads a day

I must be lucky, I only bled for 1-2 weeks after both of my c-sections. It was heavy for a couple days then light the remainder of time.

Yes. It depends on if your OB flushes you out or not. The first time my OB did…I still bled on and off for 9 weeks afterwards but it was mostly annoying, not crazy heavy. 
Second time my OB didn’t flush me out(not sure why). I bled so heavily that the nurses had to come roll me over and clean me up because I was still numb. My nurse was slightly concerned and made the OB check on me. After leaving the hospital I bled but nothing crazy. It stopped at 6w because I got the nexplanon. Literally, the day i got it I stopped bleeding.

They only days I had heavy bleeding were when I was in the hospital, after that I had light bleeding for about 3 weeks.

It’s the same amount of bleeding, varies from woman to woman.
It feels worse than it actually is as you haven’t bled for a while.

Not true; you’ll still bleed just as much! I really like the Always Discrete diapers… they were very comfortable!
