Panorama test

I wanted to do the Nuchal translucency test for abnormalities. My doctors office does not offer it as covered by my insurance. She suggested doing the panorama test instead so we could find out gender. My fear is that it will show something as positive that isn't true. Does that happen with this test? Do they have wrong results? I know the gender is 99% im just very wary about spending money on the test out of pocket.
