Mother in laws “secret cookies”
Alright, my mother in law makes some damn good chocolate chip cookies. My husband loves her cookies and she lives hours away. I have asked her if I can have her cookie recipe and I feel like she keeps buffaloing me because they are not turning out like hers.
She said she uses the toll house chocolate chip cookie recipe but instead replaces the butter for shortening. (Makes them crunchy. )
Her cookies are as flat as a pancake. When I made them they came out thicker. Not flat at all. The texture/taste is correct But how are here coming out flat like that?
I’m done asking her questions because I feel like she isn’t disclosing things so her boy always visits home 😂 (don’t blame her) but they taste good and I want to be able to cook them
Any bakers able to help me figure this out.
This is the recipe.
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened (replaced butter with shortening instead)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
350 degrees . 11 minutes
