Accidental unassisted homebirth

Wanted to share my wild and crazy birth story with you all. 😅 Andrew (mentioned below) is my husband.

Clay Andrew’s birth story 🥰

I wanted to share his crazy wild totally unplanned birth story while it was still fresh. Wednesday morning 3/30 around 3:45am I woke up to a small gush and immediately knew it was my water breaking. Contractions started about 30 minutes later and started off mild. They came pretty regularly at about 10-15 minutes apart for a few hours, and slowly picked up in intensity and timing around 3pm. We headed to the birth center around 5 as my water had been broken for 13 hours by then. The contractions slowed on the drive and never really picked back up again. The midwife checked my progress around 9:30pm and found I was only 4cm after trying to establish labor for over 17 hours. And also that my water was still intact meaning I either had a high leak or the second smaller bag surrounding the main bag had broken. We decided it was best we head home for a good nights sleep and hopefully active labor would start after we were all rested.

During the 45 minute drive I continued having contractions, which grew in intensity and closeness but considering I had been having contractions all day I didn’t believe they were doing anything. By the time we had pulled into our neighborhood I mentioned these contractions felt like labor contractions. About a minute after walking in the house I got another really strong contraction that broke my water. I knew baby was coming and knew if we got in the car to drive back baby would be born in the car. So we prepped the bed for delivery and called the midwife. Next contraction I already felt the urge to push, so we got the midwife on the phone to talk us through Andrew delivering the baby 😳 only a few more pushes and the head was out! But the midwife noticed the shoulders were stuck and told Andrew he would have to pull the baby’s shoulders out. So he did just that and Clay was born at 11:21pm delivered by his dadda at home before the midwife was able to arrive 😳

It was totally wild and definitely not as planned at all. I went from 4cm to 10cm in under an hour, there’s no way anyone could have predicted that especially after a 17 hour stalled labor. Thankful my photographer made it just as Clay was crowning and captured the most crazy yet amazing experience 🥰🥰
