Sertraline/Zoloft..When will it kick in?

Started sertraline 25 mg almost four weeks ago. I was on 25 for two weeks, and now have been on 50 mg for almost two weeks. I feel like I’m quite a bit less emotional, but still am at the same time. I still feel somewhat depressed and anxious. When will I start to really feel any change? Maybe it is haloing but I’m expecting too much and the changes are too subtle? I still feel trapped in worry and hopelessness 😔

The medications are half of the equation in properly treating mental health related struggles. You need to work on lifestyle changes in the sense of doing therapy or at least counseling. The medications are to help with the extreme aspects of the emotional parts, help dilute the depression or mania etc. Therapy is to help with the rest. How to acknowledge the emotions, how to handle them, what to do when you're having an anxiety attack, what to avoid diet wise to help your medications work best, what to do to help rewire your brain and it's reactions to certain things etc etc. The medication cannot do all the work, it's just meant to help you along the way in your journey. Talk with your doctor about starting therapy or counseling. I struggled for years just doing medication based treatment and I felt very much like a hopeless case. It wasn't until I started therapy that I knew it wasn't the case and I'm doing much better now and the medication helps a whole lot more now that I'm helping it in return

Just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone. I just started Zoloft about 4 months ago. Same as you, I started at 25mg and then got bumped up to 50mg about a month in. Honestly, I haven’t noticed much of a difference. I still wake up with morning anxiety. I guess it might get a little better throughout the day but it’s not a huge difference. It can take up to 2 months to feel the full effects. If you feel like you need more, I would talk to your doctor about upping your mg to 75mg or 100mg, or even switching to a completely different med. I’m going to be talking to my doctor about this issue soon as well. Don’t ever stop trying till you find the right solution for you. You deserve to have your mind and body at ease. It’s not healthy mentally or physically to be going through anxiety or depression everyday. Anxiety and depression literally effects every organ in your body. Prayers and hugs your way. I was on sertraline at 50mg to start and had to be bumped up to 100mg, but then it still wasn’t working for me after another four weeks so I got put on 
Escitalopram oxalate Instead and it’s so much better! My anxiety practically was erased! Ask your doctor about your dosage or alternate options :)
