Is she sick or is it allergies?

My daughter this morning was completely fine when she woke up. We had gone to my parents around 8 so she was only outside for roughly about 5 minutes. Then at around 11 my dad took her out to the backyard to play while he watered the plants. Once they came in I realized her cheeks were slightly red and she was sneezing A LOT which then led to congestion. The rest of the day she had congestion and a runny nose. I gave her a bath and tried to get as much mucus out of her nose as she would allow me. Put her to bed and then she woke up about 20mins later bc the congestion was making it hard for her to breathe. I decided to use some saline solution and frida suck those boogies out but as soon as she saw the frida sucker she freaked and started to cry. This led to her sucking that mucus back in and then gagging on it. She ended up throwing up on my husband. We’re both trying to figure out if this was allergies that just went south or if she’s possibly got a bug. We’re all completely fine and she hasn’t been around anybody sick in the last few weeks! Please any advice would help. I’m buying kids vapor rub tomorrow since we lost the one we had. We have a humidifier, saline spray, and nose frida (she never lets us do the nose frida tho). She’s acting completely fine now and doesn’t even sound congested anymore! We currently have no health coverage so i don’t even know if I’m able to call a hospital and ask for an advice nurse or how long it would even take. Our health coverage goes into effect in May so I’ll be taking her in for an allergens test as soon as possible!

I do think an allergy test might be needed. I wonder if she’s allergic to cut grass or pollen (my brother was growing up). However, those tests are not cheap and usually insurance does not cover them. I think a full allergy panel can cost $700-1,000 out if pocket. I think you’re doing all the right things to keep her comfortable. Ie: washing the allergens off of her, vapor rub, humidifier, saline rinse and suctioning mucus. If she ever starts to sound like she’s wheezing, tight breathing, call an ambulance please. Do not delay!Also if she ever breaks out with a rash on her throat or mouth, swollen lips or tongue. Seek treatment immediately. Allergies can worsen the more someone is exposed to something they are allergic too. Their body will release more and more histamine each time to protect itself. Their symptoms becoming more severe.
My only other suggestion would be to call or visit the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist what over the counter meds they might be able to recommend for a young child. Please know her weight in case they ask so they can give you the proper dose amount. Their advice is free and could help you a lot.

How old is your daughter? If she’s old enough try over the counter Claritin-D it’s a decongestant and it’s a really good allergy med (nondrowsy). 
Try it every day for at least a week and see how her symptoms react. I have really bad pollen allergies so if it rains and kicks up all that stuff or it’s just a really windy day - I’ll get a sore throat and lots of mucus unfortunately.
When the Claritin stopped working a few months ago I went Zertec to reset my body and now I’m back to Claritin. Typically you can get both in the generic brand and it works wonders! Usually I recommend generic Walmart for the Claritin and generic target for the zertec. Have had great success with both.
Obviously if she doesn’t improve in that week take her to the doctor but this give you a bit of wiggle room to determine if it’s just allergies or not.
