Doctorate with kids!?

Question

If you have your doctorate and had a kid any point in the 8 years of school please comment below and tell me which year you did and how badly it affected your school. I'm just trying to figure something out, there will be absolutely no judgment for any answer at all.
My husband is about to start his last 4 years this fall, I'm not in school at all.

With any type of advanced degree there is a quite a bit more schoolwork involved. Weather it be thesis papers, clinical rotations or round tables....it takes a lot of your time. Mentally and physically. It also causes you to have to absent from the homespace frequently. 
The issue is that you really can't split yourself in half, despite your best efforts. Something will suffer. If you have an infant whilst attempting to attain this degree you will need someone on the ready to care for the child and to be quite honest, essentily raise them for you. Even in the times you are present physically, you will be elsewhere mentally and always looking to get that "one last thing" done. 
I'm not saying it's impossible. With support, it IS possible but there will be concessions made.

My best friend is about to start medical school. She got her masters and then had her first. She just hd her second and will start school in a couple of months. The thing about her situation is her and her husband live in a basement apt of her parents home so she has a lot of help. She would take her kid upstairs with gma while she worked on a few classes to help her raise her gpa before applying to med school. Her husband also has a 15 year old that just moved with them. But she like i said will have support from her parents and husband. She will begin med school with a 4 month old. Im sure itll be hard but she has support.
