Allergies?

I keep feeling like I have to cough pretty often and randomly it's been going on for over a month now I will get a tickle in my throat and just have to cough most of the time drinking water doesn't help and the past couple days I've had a sore throat and only a sore throat but today I have a sore throat and what feels like a phlegm build up it's gotten to the point I can't smell foods without having to cough from the smell bothering my throat and my doctor put me on this noise spray in a little brown glass bottle that I have to use every morning once a day because he thinks it's allergies and also had me on steroids for a week because of the build up of fluid in my throat and ears but it doesn't seem to be helping me any I was wondering if anyone else has ideas on what this could be? My follow up appointment isn't until June and they don't have any sooner open appointments and told me if it gets to bad to go to the emergency room
