Ultrasound or no?

I know this is controversial but how does everyone feel about ultrasounds? Neither my nor my husbands mother had them when they were pregnant with us. I know they are "relatively" recent and I'm just not sure I want to risk it. And before you ask, NO I am not a crazy anti vaccer :) yes there is a lot of research and the risk is mild but...thoughts?

Ultrasounds are neither controversial nor dangerous - they pose zero risk to either you or the fetus. If it's recommended or offered by your doctor/midwife, go right ahead and get it!

There is no harm in ultrasounds. They are not x ray, only sound waves. Most drs dont do them bc it is time consuming and they usually charge if u want more. I worked in ob gyn for 4 years and our office was amazing. We did them on every preg pt until they were over 20 weeks just for fun and pics. If your office offers them all the time, take advantage!  No harm to u or baby at all!

There is a recent study published by the fda, stating that frequent u/s can be harmful.  I wouldn't get one once per week, but the routine two should be ok.

I'm good with the regular on the belly us. But I do not like te vaginal ones. I've had one with this pregnancy and was not happy about it but I needed it for proper dating my doctor and I dissagreed on the dates. I was right lol

My midwife will only do one ultrasound, if there are other reasons for me to need more she will let me know. You could talk to your doc and ask them to not be overly intrusive. :) I will have to wait till my 20 weeks. If everything goes smooth during pregnancy :)

I had 2 ultra sounds a month from 7 weeks till i had her .my daughter was healthy 9lbs 11.5 oz .I was high risk .

In Europe you get regulary just 2times US. First: between 9th-12th week - to proof how old is the baby, and if all is ok. Second: around 20th week. Additional US aren't necassary - exept there is something what should be figured out.
