How to have a nice beautiful wedding but as cheap as possible?

Any suggestions? Anything you guys did to make it cheaper? I really want a beautiful wedding, but it’s just a lot of money. We’re not even engaged yet because it’s expensive for a ring. 
We have two kids and are saving to buy a home also. 
I’m tired of hearing people tell us how we’re not married…

I'm getting married in July but keeping my wedding cheap as well cause I want a house too. So far, these are the ways I've been saving: 1. Buy your dress online and just have it altered (I used AliExpress) 2. Have family do as many things as possible (bake the cake, do your hair and makeup, prepare the food etc) 3. Use a park or church or friend's home for the venue 4. Have a rustic theme and use things like fruit or tree branches for decorating (Pinterest has great ideas) 5. Ask people to donate money instead of gifts
Other things to consider: a. Scratch hiring a dj, a charismatic friend can easily play songs on a speaker using their phone and nobody will care b. Consider a morning wedding - breakfast is typically cheaper to prepare and the expectation of liquor is lower

I used the park area by the waterfront. And invited only friends and family that we really loved. Then our “reception” was in the hotel across the street. Meaning in the restaurant where everyone paid for themselves. 😂😂😂

It completely depends on what you want. Some of the most beautiful weddings are sometimes the small intimate ones. I saw a couple get married on the beach with just their officiant and two witnesses with a photographer. Others have gorgeous backyard weddings. Sometimes having your wedding on a Friday or Sunday can be cheaper at some venues. Another wedding I went to was very nontraditional in that the reception was at a restaurant and they had a guy host trivia instead of a dj and dancing. I’m sure it was much cheaper than a dj and didn’t require as long a time booked at the venue. Some costs can be cut by looking outside the box when it comes to location, food, date, and entertainment.

Keep it simple, and strip it down to the things that have the most significance to you. 
We got married at the court, then invited a few people to celebrate at a local pub, and our uncle paid the tab as a gift. Our only costs were the wedding bands, and I wore a white summer dress that I got on clearance for $15! It was so much fun, and we wouldn't change it for anything.
My friend had a free backyard wedding. They invited about 30 people, and we helped her make the food. Between the groceries, clothes, rings, and a few decorations, her whole wedding was less than $1k.

We spent around 5,000$ for everything dress and all.  But couldve done it cheaper.    Skip serving a meal just do snacks and a cake or whatever type of thing yall like.   Look for a free venue.  We got married at our church.  Go with non traditional postcard style invitations.  Check out David's bridal they have a lot of nice dresses for inexpensive.  Decorate yourself and make the bouquets and such yourself.   If you have a friend or family member who is a photographer talk to them ab a lower price.     Keep it small ish.  If you hage a park style venue you could even skip the food if you wanted.    dont be afraid to ditch traditional things.    Skip favors alcohol and things like that. Costs a lot and is mostly a waste

We used a little wedding conservatory that’s local to us on a Friday morning. Weekdays were cheaper. Also, we bought rings with lab created sapphires. They’re gorgeous, much more affordable, and very durable. We get compliments on them all the time. We invited less than 30 people and didn’t have a typical reception. We bought fake flowers to keep and reuse but if you’re not reusing your items then rent! There’s plenty of people or services who rent their wedding decor. 
My second choice for a wedding would have been to rent a cabin by a lake and have a small wedding lakeside under the stars. I would have invited others for the weekend to hangout a day or two before the ceremony and spend time playing games and making brunch and dinners. Hang a few strands of lights and flowers and let the moonlight enchant the rest. Much more affordable than a hall and big reception.

IMO, you don't NEED a ring to be engaged. The commitment is still there,and a fancy piece of jewelry shouldn't be what matters here. With my wedding, we found a package through Honeymoon Hills in Gatlinburg, TN. That, plus my dress, tux rentals and the bridesmaid dresses were all less than $2,000 total. Small and simple.
