Babies born at 37 weeks?

Question

Do babies born at 37 weeks need NICU time? Do they generally have any health issues. I had emergency c section with first one at 39+1 due to distress and I don't want go to the point of emergency again so wanted to know how early is safe but also sufficient for growth? Is there anyone else planning early delivery due to similar reasons?

It’s not a one size fits all. And sometimes, not even your doctor can tell you for sure. My OB told me that sometimes even 40 weekers end up in NICU. 
If it makes you feel better tho, my son had growth issues and came prematurely. (35 weeks) He almost skated by with no NICU time

It is absolutely individual.
Some don't need nicu even on 36 weeks. Some need it of born 40 weeks.
So the answer is, ask your doctor, because that is not set in stone.

Both my babies were 37 weekers (preeclampsia). Neither needed NICU time. 🙂

It definitely depends, I've know some babies need it at 39 weeks but I had a 36 week baby and he didn't go into the nicu at all.

It all depends on baby and circumstances. I had to be induced at 37weeks preeclampsia and had an emergency csection. Baby spent 1 week in nicu, premie clothes for a month. Sadly this pregnancy I got preeclampsia early and I may not make it to 37w. I made it to 34 so far. They said it’s hit or miss whether will need nicu time and how much…

I had a scheduled c section at 37weeks and my lil one spent 5 days in the nicu because she had a lil tough time breathing but she’s 16m now and healthy as can be :)

Schedule a c-section so it’s not an emergency one if you’re concerned. Our first was 37 weeks and no NICU. Our second was 38 weeks and had two days of NICU. Gestational age isn’t a cut and dry factor.

Sometimes. It all depends on the baby! 
My now 5 year old was born at 37 weeks and didn’t go to nicu my daughter who’s 3 was born exactly on 36 weeks didn’t need nicu time 
My youngest whose now 2 was born at 37.5 weeks and he did two nights in the nicu due to swallowing amniotic fluid so it all depends on the baby and situation

My baby boy came on his own at 37 weeks on the dot. He was healthy and didn’t need NICU but be was tiny and jaundice so it was just a tougher first few weeks but we djd fine
