Cramping and clots

Hi everyone I'm trying to conceive 2+years and I normally have a regular cycle. This month my period was two days late I started cramping on and off no bleeding at all then today I've been bleeding heavy and then the flow stops cramps in-between followed by clots very tiny ones. My stomach feels very swollen and I feel a pinching sensation In my uterus. No idea what's going on with my body this month. I'm wondering if I should do a test when the bleeding stops or is this just a period.
