Elevated AFP levels 12 weeks pregnant
I got a call from my midwife saying our baby looked great, ultrasound looked perfect, baby is actually measuring almost a week earlier so that bumps my due date up by a week.
My bloodwork came back low risk for down syndrome but my AFP was slightly high and raises concern for neural tube defects. I think they prefer the range somewhere in the 1's but mine was 2.77.
I go for extra testing just to double check everything is normal and healthy which I'm praying is!
I'm assuming based on my ultrasound they would've been able to detect any abnormalities and since it came back healthy I think my chances are pretty good?
I also heard these tests can have lots of false positives which is reassuring.
Has this happened to anyone with a positive outcome?
