What do we go with?

Our son will be 25 months when baby #2 arrives. Some people say we need a double buggy, others say not to bother but to get a buggy board/seat for the buggy our son had.

Depends completely on your child and how often you plan on using it.
My daughter was 2.5 when my son was born. I didn't really use her pram much by this point and didn't think it was worth it to buy a double. When we go for walks we had started not bringing the pram and I'd only use it to get her to/from preschool (30 min walk, 40 if she walks it) so I just bought a buggy board. She usually walks half the way and then goes on the buggy board. She's good, she knows not to run off and I can trust her to stop when I say stop. I think its a good in-between because I want her to feel independent and grown up, but I know its pretty far for her to walk (I live in Wales so lots of steep hills). We call it her "skateboard" 😅

I recently swapped from double pushchair to a buggy board for my oldest who is 28 months and she refuses to stand on it and makes me carry her instead. 
I've gone back to a double pushchair for shopping trips and kept the buggy board for little walks or just popping to the shop

We have a 25 month old and a 4 month old and use a board with seat attached to the stroller. He really likes riding along on it! Something to consider: it’s best used on even roads, not too bumpy. I also often use the baby carrier for the little one and the stroller for the oldest, especially when I go to a store/grocery shopping. Otherwise I’d be chasing my two year old the whole time. 
If you go for a board: check whether you can still walk behind it. An inconvenience ours has is that my son can easily hit the break of the stroller with his foot, which can be dangerous, so maybe check whether there’s a solution to that as well. We also have two handles on the stroller which he likes to hold on to whilst sitting on the board. We can use the board without seat as well but haven’t tried that yet so not sure whether that’s an important feature in the future.

We went with the sit and stand style stroller. Our son was 26mo when our second was born.

Depends on your child and if you plan to go out alone without your spouse/partner. Scenario: youre at the store ir park, your toddler wants to run off, and also doesnt want to sit nicely etc. You cant leave baby alone in the buggy while you go chase your toddler, and you cant carry your toddler and push the buggy. With some of my kids this didnt really happen, so being without a double buggy would be fine...with others, this could be a somewhat probable occurrence and I would be totally screwed without them strapped and buckled into the buggy lol.
