Cleaning vagina after giving birth?

So I am 3 days post partum I did not have any tears and I showered and was cleaning down there and put my finger up my vag to clean inside. Is this OK?  Or should I not stick my finger in there? Because it smells if I don't clean it

No, your vagina is self cleaning. You don’t ever need to clean inside. Do not put anything in your vagina until your ob has cleared you. You essentially have a big wound in your uterus that is healing and the last thing you want is to risk getting an infection. That’s why you’re not supposed to use tampons or have sex until you’ve been to your postpartum check up and your doctor has given you the green light.
