When were you concerned ?

Hi moms,

I have an 18 month old baby girl. I’m just a little concerned after her most recent doctors appointment. They told me she was behind in her development, which if I’m being honest I was already concerned before then. Just even more than now after hearing that. Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself and worrying.

But my toddler, she has not spoke one word yet and she’s hitting 1 1/2 years old. She does babble a ton, and she screams a whole bunch too. But when it comes to words, nothing. She uses the “Da da da da” sound a lot too. She doesn’t point at things at all.

Online I read about the first tell tale signs for toddlers on the spectrum . And a lot of the things named were things my baby does or doesn’t do.

One article or source mentioned finger or hand flicking, swaying of the body all the time. The screaming of squealing which she does a lot of. She always has random objects in her hands when she’s walking. And it’s almost like she won’t walk or function if there isn’t something in her hand at all times. Can be something so random like a pen or a cord. The list goes on.

My question is, what were the signs for some of you or when did it become a concern?
