It’s a belt adjustment that puts the buckle between your legs VS on your belly. 
Has anyone tried it? Would you recommend, and do you think they’re a safe option?

I have not used anything like this, never even crossed my mind to change anything about the seat belt. But I personally wouldn't trust doing so.

just make sure that specific brand has been crash tested

I saw something like this on shark tank. The brand had done extensive crash testing, so if you want something like this make sure it's been crash tested. Also, you can just slide the seat belt under your belly to make it safer than the belt being across your belly.
