What should we do?

Alicia

My sister is nearly 30 weeks pregnant and has never had a prenatal appointment. She found out she was pregnant and was considering having an abortion, but changed her mind once she reached 16 weeks. We booked a prenatal appointment as soon as she made her decision. On the day of her appointment, the clinic told her that they would not be able to see her until she brought her medical records (they never told us that she needed to have them for her 1st appointment), so they sent her home and we had to reschedule her appointment. By the time she got her medical records and returned to the clinic for her next appointment, they said that they would no longer be able to take her on as a new patient because she was already passed 20 weeks. We tried calling other clinics to set an appointment but they all said that she was too far along to be taken on as a patient. Finally, we were deferred to the local health department for help and they connected us with a clinic that would be able to see her but her appointment is nearly 1.5 months away. By the time she is seen she will probable 36 weeks. Is there anything we can do in the meantime? I’ve been pretty stressed about this entire situation, so I can imagine how my sister feels.

P.S. She went to the hospital about 3 weeks ago to make sure the baby was okay since she didn’t feel any movement. They ensured her that the baby was okay and discharged her. But other than that, she’s received ZERO care.
