Abdominal ultrasound at 6 weeks?

Question

Has anyone had an abdominal ultrasound around 6-7 weeks?? I have an elective scan on Friday and I'll be either 6+1 based on LMP or 6+4 based on ovulation and I'm just wondering what we might expect to see. The place I'm going to doesn't do transvaginal scans, I asked.

It’s very possible you won’t be able to see anything on an abdominal ultrasound that early. You might see a gestational sac (what looks like an empty circle). It’s doubtful you’d be able to see more than that.

yes i had one at 6 weeks +6 and saw a sac.

I did mine at 6w2d, I could see a flicker of a heartbeat.  I didn’t see a yolk sac the day before, so it will depend on how far along you are.
