I need legal advice please

Hi ladies I don’t know if any of y’all can help me out. So my babies dad and I had an account together, but I was the first holder. We had money in there saved up and he needed to use it for his cars transmission. The plan was that he was going to put it back in the account. Well, he left me 27 weeks pregnant and now owes me $2,600. He says he will pay me back, but I have been on top of him for it and it’s always excuses and it’s looking like he won’t be paying me back. Do y’all know if I can sue him or take him to court for this? I am scared of doing so, because I don’t want him to have any right towards my daughter for certain reasons…
