Best Breast Pumps?

Jessica

Hello!

What breast pump(s) do you like? What have you been disappointed with?

I am only 23 weeks along currently, so I have time, but I was researching breast pumps and I am really all over the place. My insurance luckily covers breast pumps pretty substantially, so I’m not too worried about cost here. (This is one of the things we are happy to splurge on anyways, if needed).

I plan to primarily breast feed while at home, but plan to pump so my husband can bottle feed as well (and so the baby gets comfortable with a bottle before I return to work). I will be returning to work about 14 weeks after the baby is born. I have a hybrid schedule, so I work from home 3 days a week and go to the office 2 days a week, so I will be pumping at the office when I am there (we have some cozy mothers rooms at my office that we can schedule to use to pump).

I really would like to avoid a pump that requires me to be plugged into the wall. I remember my mom feeling very secluded and lonely when she was pumping for my younger siblings, being “tied” to a wall so often, so a portable pump would be ideal.

At first, I was leaning toward the Elvie or Willow so I can walk around the house more easily, go for a walk outside, etc, while I pump, but my research is showing that these aren’t as powerful as other pumps and take longer to get the same amount of milk, which makes me think it won’t be ideal for when I’m pumping at work using the mothers room… I would also prefer something quiet so I could potentially pump, if needed, while on Zoom meetings when I am working from home. Open to any and all suggestions and your feedback about what has worked for you!
