PUPPP complaints 😩

Tessa

Haven’t heard of it? Me either. It’s basically pregnancy induced hives. Although it’s normally on the stomach, mine is wrists to armpits with a circle of hives around each pit, that spread (night before last) across my chest and last night down my Left side. It is characterized but increased itching during the night that is so intense that it interferes with sleep. 🙃

This may sound weird but it feels neurological. Like if I do give in and scratch, the itch sinks down into my body and then relocates to another spot that can’t be found. I have experience with psoriasis and eczema and this just feels different. A special kind of inescapable itchy hell. What will make it go away? Birth. Up to two weeks after birth to be specific. 🙃

What helps? Baking soda and oatmeal baths help SOME but I need to do them morning and night. Ive also tried topical anti-itch OTC creams, pine tar soap, I read somewhere shea butter… no help. With the baths I can get up to 2.5 hrs of sleep at night instead of none. So… cool cool cool.

I am already exhausted from keeping my 20mo alive and growing this fetus. No or very limited sleep sure doesn’t help.

Also according to the internet, PUPPP occurs at 35 weeks or later and I got mine at 29 weeks. I’m 35 weeks now so.. 6 weeks down and potentially 7 weeks to go?! 😩😩😩 Say it ain’t so!!

It’s spreading so fast now. The internet suggests it’s linked to stretch marks because that’s where they typically show up but my rash isn’t on my stomach and I don’t have any stretch marks (yet). So they really don’t know 💩 about it. Helpful.

Okay. Sigh. I’m done complaining. Thanks for listening.
