Does getting your water break hurt? Share a few experiences please

Little back story I’m 39+3, I’m getting painful contractions on and off, so they will steadily come for 4-5mins then get further apart like 8mins apart then 10mins etc., initially they were going to let me ride it out but things change and they’re giving me 24hrs more to see if my body naturally goes into labor if not they’re going to break my water and see if that speeds the progress along, also I’m at 4cm dilated I went from not being dilated to a 4in a few hours.. also I will not be getting any pain meds (not by choice either lol, this hospital just does things “naturally” so no epidurals, which is okay)

so I’m just wondering if anyone is willing to share there experience with me this is my first time and I’m really nervous
