Self check dilation

I’ve self checked for dilation a few times I’m dilated just don’t really know how much (thinking around 3-4 cm) I have a doctor app in a couple days where she’ll check me again but The last couple times I’ve checked the amniotic sac has been sitting outside of my cervix like passed the edge of my cervix & idk if I should be worried or not…. Can this be a sign of anything bad? Does it affect baby bad at all or is it just meaning that labor is getting closer?
