In my opinion , no. most women aren't actually hearing the baby when they use one at home. Most are picking up an artery or the placenta. Im sure some women learn to actually find baby but I know the OBs really recommend against having an at home Doppler.

I really really wanted one but I’ve heard too many stories of women trying to reassure themselves when they were worried about something and then finding out at their next appt that baby had already died because they had actually only heard the placenta or their own heartbeat 😣 it would have been better to just go in an get checked.

For me it was. It helped my anxiety a lot. Watch YouTube videos to help distinguish the difference from yours and baby’s heartbeat.

It was worth it to me. After four miscarriages I just wanted one for reassurance. I could tell the difference between placenta, my heartbeat and baby though. And even now, at 25 weeks, if I feel like he hasn't moved very much, or I just haven't been paying attention to his movements, I use it. I have anxiety and take medication for it, so having something to help that as well was well worth it for me personally.

Worth it. I bought mine because I have POTS so I was fainting regularly in the first trimester. Haven’t used it in many months. Unfortunately, slipped and fell down the stairs this past weekend at 34 weeks (slid down on my back luckily). I was able to calm myself down by checking to make sure I wasn’t bleeding and then using the doppler to hear his heart beat right away in the 140s. But without one it would’ve made the 1.5hr wait call back from the on call doctor more nerve wrecking and the drive in to triage. Money well spent. Check fb marketplace if you want to save some money.

It was very useful between 8-15 weeks before I could feel baby move. I still use it occasionally if I don’t feel him move for a while but it usually just collects dust now.

They are literally only $50 on baby doppler.com and if you haven’t felt your baby kick in a little while or your higher risk like me you just wanna hear their heartbeat and know they’re OK and you can do that and have that assurance for only $50 for me it’s worth it. I used mine my whole first pregnancy and then donated it so this time around I’m buying a new one because I loved having it so much. Depends on the mom
