Healthcare
I know this can be a politically devisive topic but I'm really interested in honest opinions.
I live in Australia but was brought up in the UK. Both countries have a healthcare system that is free to all. You can still have private health insurance or choose to go privately for treatment, but there is no obligation to do so.
I read a post this morning about a woman who gave birth in Canada. It prompted a couple of comments comparing the cost of giving birth (I believe she only paid for her private room, which was optional) with that in the USA (which even after insurance payout seemed to be 5 figures for a straightforward birth).
I've spent time in the States but never lived there, so my understanding of the system is pretty limited. I'm pretty sure there's some kind of aid available for elderly people and/or those living in poverty, but most people don't fall in these categories and need to pay for their healthcare.
So my question to Americans is, politics aside, are you happy with the system you have?
